Jamie Miller

jamiemiller_stylistsmallI LOVE being a Beautician, everything about this industry is everything I could ask for in  a career. Meeting interesting people, studying Fashion & pop culture, traveling for education. I've been a cosmetologist for 7 years. I  try to cover as much as I possibly can with my work, I really enjoy doing everything ... men's cuts, (making them look as dapper as can be) to Fresh, Rich, Natural looking color. I love Glamming people up for special occasions, like my Brides - Updo's and makeup, talking about the whole look & making it personal to you. ( I get pretty excited about it!) I Like to discuss the look and visualize it for a while . I have also done Hair and Makeup around town for Fashion shows ,Photo shoots for local Photographers, also Fashion spreads in K.C Weddings and Spaces magazine, which are a real treat for me to do!! When i'm not at Skyline Downtown Salon I really enjoy being active It's hard for me to stay put I love to run, bike, dance, do Yoga, Travel, learn new things and teach my little 3&4 year old dance class!

Spring Events

Romance & Glamour
Spring is here! That means Weddings, proms and loads of other wonderful events that you want to look Fresh and Fabulous for. Some of my favorite looks for brides right now are very chic and classic with a touch of edge to them. I love the idea of the classic bun (low, high,to the side or perfectly centered) High shine, but with a bit of texture to them, making it personal to your whole look. Maybe even intertwining some shimmery fabric or tulle into the updo to add an interesting effect, a few designers were playing that up a little on the runways for spring! Every Bride needs an accessory in the hair to be adorned. Your the bride after all!  We have some great pieces at Skyline, Birdcage designs (www.birdcagedesigns.net) is a local designer with some really unique fabric flowers, headbands, birdcage veils, etc. we also have some Janay A. peices ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) that are super cute and one of a kind, Love them! It’s also really fun when brides get creative with an old piece of family jewelry, a cluster of buttons, or hand made paper flowers.  Have fun with it!  You can even pull off some fun hair accessories when attending other events, black tie, prom or even a cocktail party. I’ve been having fun with unconventional braiding, a cascading fishtail, or a braid that wraps around the head to create some interesting texture, the ideas are endless and these looks can be for something formal and casual! A few of my recent brides have been having fun with bright lip stains and bold lipsticks and I LOVE it! My rule for makeup is to make sure you are comfortable but also go for your dream - fairy tale makeup that you don’t do every day- but stay true to yourself. I love playing with lip color. There are so many great shades of Pink, Red or Coral that can compliment everybody’s look, I even love the idea of switching it up between Ceremony and reception making it a little more dramatic - why not!?  M.A.C has some great long lasting shades in lipsticks, glosses and pencils that I always recommend!  (www.maccosmetics.com)  This is a subject i could go on and on about, all the small details can really make an event special!
